Spencer’s Top 5 Australian albums.
Admittedly this is going to be less of a Top 5 and just be a list of Australian albums I am really enjoying at the moment. I always like making sure I have all my Australian bands in one playlist for Australia day. So here are my Top 5 Australian Albums this Australia Day. Get amongst it aye cunt.

Wolfmother - Wolfmother
It doesn’t matter what you say because this album rules. Wolfmother were an amazing band as a three piece. I’ve recently been listening to it a lot since it made an appearance on a particularly enjoyable afternoon at Schoolies. I had forgotten how much I enjoy listening to this album. It’s one of those albums you love to listen to as a whole, not just picking your favourite tracks.

Rowland S. Howard - Teenage Snuff Film
This may of may not be because I was watching his documentary last night, but this album is fantastic. The whole sound of the album is just fantastic, not to mention the sounds Rowland can get to come out of his guitar. He goes from these really warm reverb sounds to this fucking demonic distorted, virbrato attack. It really is great.

The Smith Street Band - No One Gets Lost Anymore
This album is just fantastic. I only got in a few weeks ago, but I have listened to it constantly since. It’s like an Australian Frank Turner mixed with Against Me. The lyrics on it are really great, and I just love the way the band comes together on the album. This is probably my favourite album on this list at the moment.

The Saints - (I’m) Stranded
I won’t rest until people recognize how good The Saints are. The Saints were kicking ass over here in Australia with songs like I’m Stranded at pretty much the exact same time The Ramones and The Sex Pistols were breaking through. The Saints had the buzzsaw guitar, influnces from Radio Birdman, The Stooges and the early days of Rock n Roll. Chris Bailey’s vocals are the exact right amount of sarcastic, aggressive and bored. This is a bloody brilliant album.

Various Artists - They Will Have Their Way
I’m cheating a little, but I am going to let it slide. They Will Have Their Way is a double album made up of two previous compilation albums (He Will Have His Way & She Will Have Her Way) in which Australian artists (Male artists & Female artists respectiveley) cover the songs of Neil & Liam Finn (Split Endz, Crowded House). I have been playing these two albums a lot and there are some really great covers on this. It has Boy & Bears famous cover of Fall At Your Feet, Claire Bodwitch also does a great version of it. Chris Cheney covering Distant Sun, Art Vs Science covering I See Red. My favourite at the moment is Angus Stone & Paul Kelly covering Four Seasons In One Day. Amazing!
